Marilyn Chambers, an icon of the porn industry, and someone I considered a friend has died at 56. She led a fascinating and sometimes extreme life but was also a soccer mom and left a teenage daughter behind.

When I first met Marilyn Chambers and interviewed her for Girls and Corpses Magazine in 2006, she was smart, funny and I wish we could have spent more time together.  Marilyn was our featured guest at our 2008 Halloween party at Meltdown Comics and was very gracious.  You would never know that she was the most famous porn star of her era. Marilyn was extremely happy with our interview and surprised me when she called and said,  "It's the best interview I ever did -- and I did thousands."

Oddly, three of our recent interviewees have died shortly after giving us their final interview:  Forrest J. Ackerman, Gidget Gein and now Marilyn Chambers. So, don't be interviewed by Girls and Corpse Magazine... it may be your last .

Statement on Marilyn Chamber’s (Taylor’s) Death

Marilyn Taylor (Chambers), beloved film star, sister, mother, friend born April 22nd, 1952 passed from this life on April 11th, 2009. Born in Providence Rhode Island and raised in Connecticut, she moved to California in the early 1970s. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her 17 year old daughter McKenna Marie Taylor, Her brother Bill Briggs of Massachusetts, and sister Jann Smith of Washington.

Marilyn’s most recent entertainment projects included a lead voice over role in “Porndogs”, and lead role in the indie film “Solitaire”. She had also just been signed to play a lead role in the stage production “The Deep Throat Sex Scandal” slated to open on Broadway in late spring.

A private service for family and friends will be held later this week. We ask the press and Marilyn’s fans to respect her family and close friend’s need to grieve in solitude. A public beach memorial service will be held on what would have been her 57th birthday, Wednesday April 22nd,2009. Location and time will be announced later this week
